This training calendar is designed to be a statewide resource about the latest training opportunities in mental health and substance abuse recovery across Washington State. Most of these trainings are organized by outside organizations, so make sure to scroll down on the page of the training you’re interested in if you have questions or need to contact someone about the training. Advancing Equity in Cancer Care for People with Mental Illness

Patients with serious mental illness (SMI) experience inequities in cancer care that contribute to increased cancer mortality. Comorbid mental illness is also associated with increased healthcare utilization and costs compared to other patients with cancer. Proactive psychiatry consultation and person-centered, team-based care are promising approaches that may increase access to cancer care. Cowlitz County – WaHCA Peer Continuing Education Series – Co-Occurring Disorders

Co-occurring Disorders Training for Peer Support Counselors is interactive and provides useful tools for Peer Support Counselors working with people who experience co-occurring disorders – the coexistence of both a mental health and a substance use disorder. It will further define co-occurring disorders, introduce study results, the Stages of Change, relapse prevention, and cover the SAMHSA perspective. In a classroom setting, peer counselors will learn how to positively work with people who experience co-occurring disorders.

Clark County – WaHCA Peer CE Series – Peers in Crisis & Suicide Prevention

Peers in Crisis & Suicide Prevention is a 2 part workshop that builds on itself.  Participants will leave the morning session with an ability to recognize if the peer they are working with is in crisis, what to do about it and how to support the peer and still stay grounded themselves.  The afternoon session will be based on the morning session and will provide additional tools for identifying a person at risk of suicide and responding appropriately.  Both sessions will...

DC:0-5™ Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood

The DC:0-5 two-day training is the only diagnostic classification system in existence for children from birth to 5 years old. The workshop is for clinicians and early childhood specialists working with infants & young children. We will discuss developmentally appropriate diagnoses with attention to culture & relationships.
