This training calendar is designed to be a statewide resource about the latest training opportunities in mental health and substance abuse recovery across Washington State. Most of these trainings are organized by outside organizations, so make sure to scroll down on the page of the training you’re interested in if you have questions or need to contact someone about the training. We invite you to learn about upcoming events and/or request that your training event be added to the calendar!

Basics Class Teachers

NAMI Washington - Kirkland Kirkland, WA

NAMI Basics is a class for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses. It focuses on the fundamentals of caring for the parent or caregiver, others in the family, and the child living with mental illness. Prospective teachers must have the experience of being a parent/caregiver for a child or adolescent living with mental illness, be 18 years of age, and be(come) a NAMI member. Identifying, Assessing, & Responding to Suicide Risk

This course will include research information from agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Association of Suicidology (AAS), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for an in-depth look at the prevalence of suicide, the warning signs, symptoms of depression, and risk factors.  Case examples, stories, research articles, and interviews with professionals will be presented throughout the training with opportunities for participants to evaluate their own understanding of...

NAMI Homefront

NAMI Washington - Kirkland Kirkland, WA

NAMI Homefront is a 6-session educational program for families, caregivers and friends of military service members and Veterans with mental health conditions. Based on the nationally recognized NAMI Family-to-Family program, NAMI Homefront is designed to address the unique needs of family, caregivers and friends of those who have served or are currently serving our country. The program is taught by trained family members of service members/Veterans living with mental health conditions.
