WIOA’s Impact on Employment of People with Mental Health Issues (Webinar)

This webinar scheduled for July 21st from 8:30-10:00 PDT will review the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and its role in employment of people with mental health issues. This major federal legislation provides the structure for the Washington Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Washington workforce development system and WorkSource Washington. This webinar will discuss the impact of WIOA for individuals in terms of increasing employment, and strategies for attendees in leveraging the opportunities available under WIOA. A particular focus will be on the new requirements for DVR in terms of eligibility and assessment and transition from school to employment, and the enhanced role of WorkSource Washington under WIOA.

The DBHR Employment Topical Webinar Series is intended to inform, educate and coordinate resources for individuals with mental health and substance use issues who need employment services, resources and supports. This webinar series is designed for anyone interested in increasing their understanding of the advantages and resources that promotes employment in the lives of people with behavioral health disabilities.

This month’s webinar features David Hoff from the Institute for Community Inclusion.  David Hoff, MSW, Program Director in Employment Training and Technical Assistance, has worked across the US providing technical assistance and training on effective practices in human services and workforce development. He has particular experience and expertise in the workforce development system and interagency agreements, and has a primary focus on policy and organizational and systems change. In addition to is 12 years at ICI, Mr. Hoff has been an administrator for a local Workforce Investment Board and has provided and managed employment supports for individuals with disabilities.
