Training Calendar
This training calendar is designed to be a statewide resource about the latest training opportunities in mental health and substance abuse recovery across Washington State. Most of these trainings are organized by outside organizations, so make sure to scroll down on the page of the training you’re interested in if you have questions or need to contact someone about the training. We invite you to learn about upcoming events and/or request that your training event be added to the calendar!

Advanced Topics in Strengthening Youth/Young Adult Peer Support: Strengths, Passions, Achievements, and Motivators
November 19, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
We will discuss how youth peer support specialists (PSSs) engage in strengths-based conversations with young people, using the framework of “Strengths, Passions, Achievements, and Motivators” or SPAM. Discussing strengths can feel uncomfortable, distressing or phony for youth clients. In this call we will focus on specific techniques that PSSs can use to help ensure a comfortable and engaging conversation that builds both the PSSs’ and the youth’s awareness and genuine appreciation of the young person’s SPAM.
