SUMMARY:Supporting the Youth Peer Support Role Within Your Organization
DESCRIPTION:About the Webinar: \nPacific Northwest (Region10) Mental Health Technology Transfer Center in partnership with Pathways RTC bring you “Supporting the Youth Peer Support Role Within Your Organization.”. Youth peer support is an emerging and innovative role within mental health that is seen as valuable for young adults who are system involved. While many agencies want to employ or do employ youth peer support specialists\, there are many questions and challenges regarding how to best support this role. In this webinar we will clarify the responsibilities and boundaries of the youth peer support role and offer tips on how to support this role and these employees within your agency. \nAbout the Presenters: \nCaitlin Baird is a Project Manager and Trainer with Pathways Research and Training Center at Portland State University. Caitlin has experience working directly with transition aged youth and young adults as a peer support specialist and as a supervisor for peer support specialists in wraparound and other mental health settings\, as well as her own lived experience within mental health systems. She has trained providers across the nation in wraparound\, systems of care\, and youth driven care. \n  \nMary Beth Welch is a Peer Support Training Specialist with Pathways Research and Training Center. Mary Beth uses her lived experience as a youth in the mental health system\, foster care\, and special education systems and a peer support specialist who worked with youth to guide her work. Mary Beth is also an avid cat lover! \n  \nIf you have questions please email nwmhttc@uw.edu. \nTo register\, please CLICK HERE.

SUMMARY:STAY* – A brief intervention for families of adolescents with disruptive behaviors
DESCRIPTION:STAY is a brief intervention for families with adolescents (11+) experiencing moderate disruptive behaviors and/or other co-morbid mental health issues (depression\, anxiety). The STAY model uses a hybrid of evidence-based strategies and techniques that include parent management interventions and components of cognitive behavioral therapy which are delivered through a multi-step approach over the course of 4-8 sessions. At the conclusion of the 4-8 sessions\, guidance is provided as to how to transition a family into an extended treatment\, if needed. \nSTAY was originally developed for families with adolescents who are experiencing disruptive behaviors that are causing family distress but may not require a more intensive intervention. It can also be used as a method of engaging the family in the youth’s mental health treatment for other co-morbid conditions that are contributing to family conflict and/or distress. \nFor more information\, CLICK HERE.
