SUMMARY:Harm Reduction Intervention Training
DESCRIPTION:Everett\, WA\nThe umbrella term “harm reduction” comprises a set of evidence-based\, patient-centered approaches that may be tailored to suit the treatment preferences of the 90% of Americans who have substance use disorders but are not ready\, willing or able to stop using. Under that umbrella\, harm-reduction treatment (HaRT) comprises both individual and group treatment modalities and entails a compassionate\, advocacy-oriented provider stance that affords people the respect and autonomy needed to forge their own paths toward minimizing substance-related harm and improving quality of life. It does not require abstinence or use reduction\, and instead prioritizes clients’ own harm-reduction goals and safer-use strategies. It focuses on “accepting people where they’re at” and avoids pathologizing or placing moral value on substance use. \nFor more information or to register\, please CLICK HERE.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Affirmative Mental Health Care for Transgender Clients
DESCRIPTION:The discrimination transgender and gender non- conforming people experience creates an extraordinary stress on psychological and physical health. Uninformed healthcare providers are hard pressed to meet the needs of transgender individuals without appropriate training. Unfortunately\, most graduate programs do not address the needs of the gender non-conforming patient and are unable to teach the skills necessary for competent service delivery. Through our trainings\, participants will learn how to create a more inclusive environment for transgender and gender nonconforming people and will gain the necessary skills to provide affirming services and care to all people\, regardless of where they are on the gender spectrum. \nFor more information or to register\, please CLICK HERE.
